Description

Continuous Top Rail Brackets for Deckorators Cable and Glass Railing

These are the brackets that carry a Deckorators continuous top rail over the posts, so the top line of the deck runs unbroken instead of stopping at a cap on every post. The same bracket works on both the cable and glass systems. Each bracket is a two-piece assembly: a base that screws to the top of the post, and a cover that hides the fasteners once the rail is set.

Choose the Bracket for Each Post

  • End Bracket — the last post at the end of a run
  • Line Bracket — a post where two rail sections meet in a straight line
  • Corner Bracket — a post where the run turns a corner
  • Interpost Brackets — for intermediate posts that fall under a continuous run; sold as a 2-pack

End, Line, and Corner are sold as one bracket each. Plan on two brackets per rail section — one at each post — then pick the type that matches what each post is doing.

What's in the Kit

  • Bracket base and bracket cover, powder-coated aluminum in Textured Black
  • Four 1/4" x 1" screws to fasten the base to the post
  • Two #10 x 3/4" flat-head screws to secure the top rail to the base
  • Four #8 x 5/8" pan-head screws to attach the cover
  • T20 Torx bit

Works With

  • Continuous Top Cable Rail — pairs with the Continuous Top Rail Kit in 36" and 42" heights, 6' and 8' on-center.
  • Glass railing — pairs with the Glass Continuous Top Rail Kit in 6' and 8' lengths on Universal Glass Posts. Note that only the 1/4" glass builds use a top rail — the 1/2" glass post kits are designed without one, so they don't need these brackets.

Installation Notes

Because the rail runs over the post rather than into a cap, posts get cut shorter: 35" for a 36" railing height and 41" for a 42" height, measured including the post flange. The base is oriented with the flat, locating-pin side down, and the bottom of the top rail seats onto the extensions on the base before it's screwed down. Post spacing is 6' or 8' on-center.

Posts, top rail, glass, cable, and cable kit are sold separately. See the complete guide to cable railing for how the parts work together, and cable railing code requirements for spacing and height rules.
