Which Placid Point light goes where?

Three types, and most decks use two of them. The post cap light sits on top of every post and doubles as the cap, so it is the one that shapes the look from the yard. The post and stair accent light recesses into the side of a post at any height, which is what you put on stair posts and at landings. The under rail strip clips into the channel below the top rail and is the one that actually lights the deck surface.

How many lights will one power supply run?

The standard supply is 60 watts and there is a 120 watt for larger decks. On the 60 watt, plan around 32 feet of under rail strip on a single run, and use the expandable splitter past that. Send us your post count and run lengths and we will size the supply and lay out the wiring.

What does the control hub do?

It is the piece that makes the lights automatic. Dusk to dawn or a 1 to 9 hour timer, nine brightness levels, and a photocell sensitivity setting for a yard with streetlight nearby. Turning the lights off manually starts a 25 second countdown so you can get inside first. Your settings are saved and come back every time the lights turn on.

How does the wiring work?

Low voltage, plug and play. Every light ends in the same Mini Mizu P-25 waterproof connector, so nothing is spliced and no wire is stripped. Wire runs through the hollow posts and rails through a 3/8 inch access hole, two way splitters branch the run at a post, and the supply plugs into a GFCI outlet with a hooded cover. No electrician and no hardwiring.

Does it work with Chesapeake railing?

Yes, and the under rail kits include the Chesapeake adapter clips for the wider channel. On American Series the strip clips straight under the top rail. Strips cut to length with tin snips, and you seal the cut end with clear silicone.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an electrician?

No. The system is low voltage and the power supply plugs into a standard GFCI outlet with a hooded cover. If you do not have an outlet near the deck, that part is an electrician's job.
Can I add lights later?

Yes, as long as the power supply has headroom. Every light type uses the same connector and the same hub, so adding a run is plugging into a splitter rather than rewiring. Tell us what you might add later and we will size the supply for it now.
Will Placid Point fit a post that is not Keylink?

It is engineered for Keylink posts and rails first, and the wire routing assumes a hollow aluminum post. For Trex, Deckorators and most other aluminum posts, LMT Mercer is the line that fits more widely.
What color is the light?

3000K warm white across all three types, so the post caps, stair lights and under rail strip match. LEDs are rated at 50,000 hours and the boards are conformal coated against moisture.
Can the lights stay on all night?

Yes. Dusk to dawn is a hub setting. The alternative is a timer of 1 to 9 hours from the moment the photocell triggers, or manual mode, where they only change when someone presses a button.
How far can one under rail run go?

About 32 feet on the 60 watt supply. Past that you split the run with the expandable power splitter or move up to the 120 watt supply. Start the wiring at the center post and work outward in both directions.
