Description
A 92 inch low voltage LED strip that mounts under the top rail and washes light down across the deck. It cuts every 2 inches, so one strip fits your rail sections instead of one fixed length.
Each strip carries 138 LEDs at 3000K warm white, draws 3 watts and puts out 260 lumens. It runs on 12 volt DC, so it pairs with an LMT transformer and harnesses, both ordered separately. The rest of the line sits in the deck lighting collection.
What is under-rail deck lighting?
It is an LED strip mounted on the underside of the top rail, so the light source stays out of sight and the glow lands on the deck boards and the stair treads. You see the lit surface, not the diode. Post cap lights do a different job, lighting from the top of the post.
How short can the strip be cut?
Every 2 inches. LMT marks designated cut points along the 92 inch strip, and a length that does not land on a mark moves up to the next one, so the piece comes out slightly long rather than short. Every finished length is a multiple of 2 inches.
How many strips will one transformer run?
Each strip draws 3 watts. The 12 watt supply runs three strips and the 50 watt smart supply runs thirteen. We size a supply to 80 percent of its rating and add up the wattage of everything on the circuit, so post cap lights and step lights on the same run come out of that same budget.
The 50 watt unit is the one with the timer, the photo eye and phone control through Amazon Alexa or Google Home. Those features belong to the transformer, not to the strip.
How much light does one strip put out?
260 lumens from 138 LEDs, at 3000K. That reads as warm white, and it is ambient light for the deck surface and the treads rather than task light. The strip measures 0.20 inches wide and 0.10 inches deep, so it stays out of the sightline under the rail during the day.
Will it fit your railing?
The strip is not railing specific. What it needs is a flat run on the underside of the top rail. Cable, baluster and rod sections all take the same 92 inch strip, because the length comes from the span between your posts, not from the infill.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do these lights need a transformer?
Yes. This is a 12 volt DC strip rather than line voltage, so it runs off an LMT transformer with LMT harnesses. Both are separate items. One 92 inch strip draws 3 watts, which is what sizes the transformer.
Is this solar or low voltage?
Low voltage. It is a wired 12 volt DC strip and there is no solar version of it. The solar option in this line is the ornamental solar post cap light, which is a different fixture that sits on top of the post.
What comes in the 1 pack?
One 92 inch strip with a 10 inch wire lead and a 0.5 inch connector. Transformers, harnesses and splitters are ordered separately. The 6 pack is six of the same strip.
What is the difference between 3000K and 5000K?
We stock the 3000K version, which reads as warm white. LMT builds the same strip in 5000K, a cooler and whiter light. The 3k in part numbers 1687-3k-1 and 1687-3k-6 is what marks the warm one.
Can it go on stairs?
Yes. Stair sections tend to be short, and the 2 inch cut increment means a stair run takes a cut piece off the same 92 inch strip. Under the rail on a stair flight, the light lands on the treads.
